Johan Bijhold Noorderkerk Concert

Johan Bijhold studied piano with Russian pianist Alexander Warenberg at the Utrecht Conservatory. In 1987 he obtained the diploma "Uitvoerend Musicus Piano" with distinction. He then worked freelance at the Utrecht Conservatory as an accompanist of bassoon and oboe students.

For many years now he has been very active in musical life in Friesland as an accompanist of choirs, but also as a soloist and chamber music player. For many years, for example, he has formed a steady duo with Netty Otter. He is also an ardent advocate of the works of the Frisian composer Paulus Folkertsma. In recent years, Johan Bijhold has also been writing music himself. For example, he created the music to the theatrical musical piece "Horsepower Men's Courage" on lyrics by Wilco Berga. This piece focuses on the history of Ameland. In 2011 this piece was performed on the island several times with great success.
Furthermore, he has set lyrics to music by Hylke Tromp and Gerrit Breteler, among others. In 2014 he recorded his own CD: 'Johan Bijhold plays Bach, Brahms and Bijhold'.
