On Sunday, May 18, 2025 in Sneek's Martinikerk, the audience will be taken on a musical journey through the impressive oeuvre of this baroque composer. From the beautiful sounds of the Messiah to the cheerful Happy, Happy We. This concert broadly interprets all facets of Handel's music. The concert begins at 4 p.m.
An afternoon of baroque splendor The program of the Handel Festival includes a wide selection of Handel's works, performed by the Sneeker CantateKoor conducted by Sippie Broersma. Highlights of the afternoon include the iconic Hallelujah from Messiah, the stately Zadok the Priest (instrumental) and the melodic Music Spread Thy Voice Around from the oratorio Solomon. The concert offers a rich variety of grand choral pieces and intimate, moving passages.
The choir will be accompanied by organist Bob van der Linde and trumpeter Sjirk Seinen. The solo parts will be sung by members of the choir and the alto Femke de Boer.
