This boating route takes in the Slûpfeart and downtown Sneek. The Slûpfeart runs from the Geau to the Wâldfeart and runs parallel to the busy A7. Those who navigate the route will pass the residential area Lemmerweg and the residential car park of Sneek, among others. The Slûpfeart was part of the Frisian Lakes Project, which invested in the accessibility of the Frisian sailing area. The goal of the project was to create a lively urban edge, with a prominent role for water. The construction of the Slûpfeart made it possible for the first time to make a round trip to Sneek via water. Previously, boats had to detour via IJlst.
Attention!
The canals of inner city Sneek are due to low - not operable - bridges only accessible for low boats such as sloops/fishing boats*). If you need a higher passage, you can first take the Slûpfeart and then in the center do not turn left to the Westersingel, but take the route right under the Lemmerwegbrug.
*) The Koningsbrug and Koninginnebrug are - depending on the water level - about 90-100 centimeters clearance.
