Eastern Gate
The Oosterpoort is a former city gate in Sneek. The gate was built in 1490 as part of the Fortifications of Sneek and was located at the end of the Oosterdijk. The building formed the entrance to the town from the direction of Leeuwarden via the Leeuwarderweg. The gate was demolished in 1842.
In front of the gate was a bridge, the Oosterpoortbrug, this bridge is still present (albeit in a modernized form).
From the Leeuwarderweg you can see at night the beautiful lighting of De Boer Licht, Profile Rijwielhandel and the LED watergate lighting on the Oosterdijk.
