Anthill (Empatec, De Hemmen industrial park)
Queen Beatrix unveiled the artwork The Anthill on May 11, 1982, on the occasion of the opening of the new building of WerkvoorzieningschapWaghenbrugghe. The organization is now part of Empatec. The Anthill was carved by artist Anne Woudwijk into a boulder of red granite. On the surface of the boulder, he carved several ants. On display are, among others, a queen ant, a flying ant, cocoons and larvae. The life of the ants refers to the workers of Waghenbrugghe. They come to the workshop and swarm out to the different work projects. Each ant and each employee has their own responsibilities and work.
