World Storytelling Day 'Deep Waters'

Thursday evening, March 20, listen to true stories about the 1825 disaster at the Fries Scheepvaart Museum. The stories took place in different places in Fryslân:
- The escape from farm Reaskourre in Heidenskip;
- The diary of Lieuwe Jans de Jong from Poppenhuizen,
- The Miracle of Munnekeburen,
- The rescuer of Vierhuis
- And finally about ir. Lely; a hell of a guy!
The stories are told alternately in Frisian and Dutch and talked together in a 'curious' manner.
About the storytellers and World Telling Day
The six storytellers are from the collective 'Vertellers in Fryslân', who tell stories every year on World Storytelling Day. They often do this in schools, but this year on World Storytelling Day (March 20) in the Fries Scheepvaart Museum. World Storytelling Day began in Sweden in 1992, since when the art of oral storytelling has been celebrated annually. This year's theme is "Deep Waters.
The storytelling evening on Thursday evening, March 20, starts at 7:30 pm. Walk-in starting at 7 p.m. Admission is (including cup of coffee or tea) €7.50 per person. Museumcard holders and members of the museum can enter for free. Full is full, so registration is required by e-mail at balie@friesscheepvaartmuseum.nl.
