VALENTINA, an ode to the (non-)mother
- Saturday 12 April
20:00 - 22:00
It is actor and playwright Caroline Moezelaar's personal theater solo about non-motherhood. Moezelaar first and foremost pays tribute to the woman without children, but motherhood is not left unsaid either. VALENTINA has already touched many hearts.
In VALENTINA, Moezelaar tells the story of the girl with mothering talent who did not have a child. So it exists: not having children, not being a mother, because it just happened that way. Missing the boat...
The performance is an ode to the woman without children and also to motherhood. And thus also to our own mother. VALENTINA is a performance that touches, chafes, reflects and is light-hearted at the same time. With a large dose of humor, sharp texts and food for thought. And no, it is not a performance for women only. Men also appreciate this socially relevant performance, whether they are fathers or not.
VALENTINA is an honest performance made from real events. That is also the feeling the audience leaves the theater with: tough and vulnerable people say after the performance. The story is both very personal and universal. The performance considers much more than just the childless aspect. It is also about motherhood, motherly love, generations, making choices and meaning in life. And how malleable is our life at all?
VALENTINA is Mosel's first one-woman show. The theme for it presented itself after the death of her father. Then she no longer had parents and dared to realize for the first time that she is the last in line, the fence. With one generation gone, no new generation will come after her. This fact, among others, served as inspiration for this performance.
To be seen on Saturday evening, April 12, at 20.00 in Lewinski in Sneek, Waterhoenstraat 2, 8601 XT Sneek
