The Haystack Hillbillies
Bandbio: The Haystack Hillbillies, a nice fresh band with an old familiar sound! The musical style of the Haystack Hillbillies is often described as Rockabilly, Rockin' Hillbilly or Hillbilly Boogie, and Traditional Country. And increasingly these days as "Roots Americana" and "Ameripolitan. Although there is now a single self-written song on their set list, the Haystack Hillbillies are primarily a tribute cover band. They draw their songs from the overwhelming musical treasure troves of the '40s-'50s-'60s from SUN records, Decca, RCA and Capitol Rocords, among others. In addition to better known songs by "hillbilly cats" such as Johnny Cash, Elvis and Carl Perkins, their set list also includes lesser-known songs by Hank Williams Sr., Ernest Tubb, Web Pierce and Johnny Horton, among others. The band has been going strong since 2021 with performances both at home and abroad. Last year, the band played a number of successful performances at an international Rock 'n' Roll festival in Ireland.
The Haystack Hilbillies consists of:
- Theunis Lourens, Lead vocals and guitar
- Elvira van Poelgeest, Double bass
- Alje Mulder, Drums and backing vocals
- Taco Snelten, Guitar and backing vocals
