The Crazy Rockers ft. Rinus Gerritsen, Erwin Java and Jan & Luna Becking

The co-founders of Indo rock are celebrating their 65th anniversary year in 2024. A milestone that would not exist without the full commitment and inspired dedication of charismatic bandleader and frontman Woody Brunings (86). Woody and his buddy Eddy Chatelin (81) are the only ones left in the original core of the band. Both band members were surprised by Mayor Van Zanen with a royal decoration and appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. This happened during their performance at Poppodium PAARD in The Hague on December 22, 2023.

With their establishment in 1959, this no-nonsense band from The Hague can be counted as the oldest band still playing, inspired by Rock 'n Roll from the United States. The time of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and many others. This Rock 'n Roll period was a big hype among the youth all over the world. With their single Mamma Pappa Twist, The Crazy Rockers were even in the Dutch charts for 3 months in the early 60s. Their Rock 'n Roll music was renamed the music movement Indorock by collectors in the 1970s for lack of background information.

The band around Woody Brunings, who lives in Sneek, celebrates its 65th anniversary with us and brings along a number of top musicians.

Rinus Gerritsen is a man who needs little introduction. Together with guitarist George Kooymans, he was the founder of the legendary Dutch rock band Golden Earring and was part of the group until its dissolution in 2021. In addition to being a musician, Rinus is also a producer and in this role he worked with Triggerfinger, among others.

Guitarist Erwin Java has an insane track record. He was part of White Honey, Herman Brood's Wild Romance and no less than 25 years of Cuby & The Blizzards, among others. After the death of singer Harry "Cuby" Muskee, he co-founded King of the World in 2012, but left the band to pursue other challenges. In December 2017, he released his first solo album. In addition to touring with his own band, Java is a regular in Johan Derksen's theater projects.

Jan Becking has been one of the regular faces in The Hague band The Clarks for many years. The band was often featured as the house band on Veronica Inside. Together with his daughter Luna, Jan is one of the guests during this anniversary show|the Clarks.

"The influence of Indo rock on Dutch pop is immense and underestimated. It's really big! It's just the first really exciting big Rock & Roll music movement in the Netherlands. This Rock & Roll was the first with electric guitars, initially big basses and later music played with electric bass guitars. In my opinion, it is the style that opened the doors to a very broad and successful music landscape in the Netherlands."
