Miriam Makeba has inimitably brought the music of South Africa into the limelight of the international music arena. "Pata Pata," "Malaika," "The Click Song," the list of hits is endless. But besides Mama Africa, a number of incisive South African heavyweights have left their mark on cultural life. Brenda Fassie was one of those artists, with hits like "Kuyoze Kuyovalwa" and the emotional "Too Late For Mama. Even after her breakthrough as an artist, she continued to live in the townships.

Bushi Mlongo mainly wrote songs about daily life in Soweto and was known to take the stage mostly barefoot. Her often sharp lyrics were rewarded with exile from her homeland, some of which she spent in the Netherlands. Hugh Masekela also spent much of his life in exile, but of course we know him mostly for a host of impressive hits, including "Stimela (Coal Train)," "Don't Go Lose It Baby" and "Bring Him Back Home. Last but not least the duo of Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya, with immortal songs like 'Nomalanga' and 'Not Yet Uhuru'.

The African Mamas take us on a journey through the South African musical landscape, which will feature numerous different musical styles. With their boundless energy and musicality, The African Mamas make every performance a celebration. A musical experience that the audience will remember for a long time.
