Requiem of Fauré by Capella Sneek

Singel 62 Sneek
Following the National Remembrance Day, Capella Sneek, conducted by Gerard van Beijeren, will perform Fauré's Requiem.
  • Sunday 4 Mayvanaf 21:15

Fauré's Requiem holds a special place in music history. The drama shown by Mozart, Verdi and Berlioz stood against Fauré. He saw the Requiem Mass more as a consolation piece of music, a redemption from the earthly and the passage to paradise, rather than the painful departure. "My Requiem is gentle in temperament, like myself. It does not express the fear of death, someone even called it a lullaby of death." Consequently, an unparalleled serenity radiates from his music that continues to captivate.

Capella Sneek made a successful debut in November 2017 with the program Ave verum Corpus. This (project) chamber choir rehearses a program in a short period of time under the guidance of conductor Gerard van Beijeren and vocal coach Sippie Broersma. In addition, professionals are engaged to guide and coach the singers vocally and technically. The programs put together for the concerts are not only challenging for the singers but also refreshing for the listener.

Entrance is free.
