Leeuwenburg 12 Sneek - website
A delightful, joyful, peerlessly exciting documentary. A story so full of surprises, eccentric characters and incredible events, that only a Scandinavian writer could invent them.

Norwegian sisters Kari and May buy an apartment in the Swedish hamlet of Gullspång. To their amazement, the salesman, Olaug, looks remarkably like their older sister, who committed suicide in 1988. She even has the same nickname, Lita. The believing sisters immediately think of a miracle. This was meant to be. The lonely Olaug is welcomed with open arms into the large, warm family of Kari and May. This is just the beginning of a phenomenal rollercoaster in which coincidences and revelations succeed each other faster and faster. The deeper the sisters dig into the family history, the stranger, more exciting and scarier it gets. Inimitable as life itself, the film's plot changes several times. A fascinating family drama becomes a Coen Brothers comedy, an unadulterated true crime and ultimately Twin Peaks in real life. Nothing is what it seems. Or is it? The Gullspång Miracle is a completely fascinating film, full of comically awkward situations and has lead actors a feature film director would kill for. A film about the complexity of family ties, identity and the persistence of beliefs. A film that you will be talking about for a long time after it is over.

The film is preceded by the 11-minute stop-motion film Wander to Wonder by filmmaker Nina Gantz (Loes Luca's daughter).
Mary, Billybud and Fumbleton are the stars of a 1980s TV show, Wander to Wonder. After the death of their creator, the trio must fend for themselves in the studio. As their hunger grows, the show becomes increasingly grim. This sinister stop-motion film with an amazing eye for detail was selected for the 2023 Venice Film Festival.
