Anora won the Golden Palm at this year's 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Anora, a flirty sex worker from Brooklyn with the fattest accent possible, and Russian fake baby first class Vanya get married in Vegas over a weekend full of ketamine, after he proposed to her for a lot of money to play his girlfriend for a week. It doesn't seem like a tight plan, especially when Vanya's irate parents send out some thugs to lecture their son. Out of this chaos Sean Beaker pours a kinetic screwball tragicomedy somewhere between Uncut Gems, Pretty Woman, a hit version of Cinderella and - according to the jury at Cannes, where it won the Golden Palm - the classics of Ernst Lubitsch and Howard Hawks. Actress Mikey Madison (remember the name!) completely blossoms under the wings of one of America's best directors. In short: you must see this one.
