Diederik was almost 8 years old when the first humans landed on the moon. The grainy images of astronauts in white suits made an indelible impression. As did the images and sounds of Vietnam and Cambodia. Not to mention Toppop. His worldview was shaped in part by Tintin and Asterix.

The power and meaning of memory. That is what Diederik's 5th solo is about. He wonders what is left, nowadays, of the amazement, wonder and admiration of a boy of the year '61. Good news: more than enough to fill an evening. After years of bringing his ancestors to life in the theater, Diederik finally tackles his own past. The little boy of the past looks at the world of today. And vice versa. A half century back in time is only a small step for master storyteller Van Vleuten. What that small step means for humanity, we will know afterwards.
